Why Detox?

An awful lot of people wouldn't say that they feel 100%. They may be lacking energy, tired, lethargic, stressed, dull skin, a bit run-down even. As a race we have survived for thousands of years without a problem, but in the 21st Century we are working in ways our bodies haven't adjusted to.

We may eat processed / convenience foods, we drive more, we wear restrictive or tight clothes, over-eating, under-eating. All these factors and many more take their toll on the body, and it can usually cope with the demands placed upon it. Sometimes we just need to help it along or give it a break.

"If we make the analogy of the large intestine, or colon being the body's waste disposal or sewer system. we can begin to understand the process more clearly.

Imagine what would be the result of a pump failure in a city's sewer system or what would happen if all the pipes got plugged up with some unmovable material so that the system failed to move waste? It wouldn't take very long before a crisis developed and a huge sanitation problem would threaten health and society."

In a healthy body it should take approximately 24hours for food to transit through the body, in the UK at the moment this is now approximately 60 hours for men and 70 hours for women (Source: The Guild of Colon Hydrotherapists). This waste material in the colon can cause some problems, firstly it is toxic to the body and those poisins can re-enter the blood stream making you feel ill, tired or weak. It isn't easy to tell if you are suffering from any toxic material in your colon. But common sighs include headaches, backaches, constipation, fatigue, bad breath, body odour, irritability, confusion, skin problems, abdominal gas, bloating, diarrhoea, sciatic pain, and so forth.
