Detoxing - love it or hate it you can't get away from it in the 21st Century. It seems that everyone is now detoxing and that each month one or more books or articles about a new diet or program are launched to help cleanse the body.
That doesn't make Detoxing the latest fad or phase, it is a very important part of a healthy life. The body has an amazing ability to detox itself - to remove unwanted toxins. Its just that sometimes you want to help the body along.
The Detox or Colon Massage offered by mdomassage aims to help you relax, to promote well-being and to help with the elimination of toxins in the body. This is done in a very safe, comfortable, relaxing and importantly enjoyable method.
This treatment is becoming a popular and effective alternative to Colonic Irrigation / Hydrotherapy.
How Does The Detox Massage Work?
Everyone should cleanse their colon on an annual basis to avoid re-absorbtion of the toxins. Traditionaly this has been done with colonic irrigation / hydrotherapy. The Detox Massage is a much more pleasant and even enjoyable way of achieving the same effect, and is a treatment that can be undertaken regularly.
This is achieved by stimulating the colon and awakening the muscles that control the peristalsis movement of the colon - the body's own natural way of moving waste through the colon.
Below is an outline of how a 30minute Detox Massage session may take place:
- The treatment starts with the client lying face down. Working through the towel a few minutes is spent introducing the massage to the body across the back, shoulders. These opening strokes help to and relax the client while allowing them to feel comfortable in the surroundings.
- Using appropriate draping with the towels so no parts of the body are exposed the client is invited to turn over and made comfortable, sometimes a small cushion is placed behind the head as this can feel more comfortable.
- The towels are arranged so that the stomach is uncovered - the chest area (for both male and female clients) remains covered by a seperate towel at all times, clients are often asked to hold this towel in place.
- The massage begins with a very gentle and light massage of the stomach in circular movements. This helps to spread some oil on the stomach, introduce the touch and relax the muscles.
- After a few minutes the same soft sweeping strokes become a little deeper, working into the abdonimal muscles more, stretching them slightly. All the time very slow without discomfort or pain.
- The movement then flows into a circular motion around the stomach, following the contours and flow of the colon. Still with slow flowing movements, a little deeper and more powerful.
- Changing position now and working deeper in a small area, the colon itself is massaged with gentle vibration movements. Throughout this hand signals are used for the client to indicate any discomfort. This process can last for a significant portion of the treatment.
This is one of the most powerful forms of massage available, the stomach is a very personal area and where a lot of emotion is carried. The treatment is always carried out with the utmost care, attention and respect.
In order for the best possible results from a Colon Massage it is recommended that a series of treatments be undertaken.
Colon Detox Programme
The colon massage is very enjoyable, and for the best therapeutic benefits I usually recommend a series of treatments. I have now put together a six week Colon Detox programme that can help with general colon health, constipation and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. This is a series of Colon Massages together with an incredibly high quality Aloe Vera Gel drink (97% of the bottle is Aloe inner-leaf Gel, not "Juice").
During Weeks 1 and 2 you receive one 30min Colon Massage a week, and drink 60ml of Aloe Vera Gel (30ml in the morning and 30ml in the evening) each day. For Weeks 3 - 6 you reduce your Gel drinking to 30ml a day. If you wish to drink 60ml an additional bottle of the Gel can be included at a discounted price. During week four you have a third Colon massage, and then in the last week you have a 1 Hour Therapeutic Massage, which will include the Colon Massage.
The full cost of this programme booked seperately is £146, but if booked as a programme it is available for £130. If you wish to complete the programme with a higher dose of Aloe Vera Gel the cost is £145.
Introductory Offer
For those who don't wish to commit to the full 6 week programme, I am currently running a special offer of 1 Colon Massage Treatment and a 1 Litre bottle of Aloe Vera Gel drink for a special price of £40 (a saving of £3 on buying the two seperately).
Why Detox?
An awful lot of people wouldn't say that they feel 100%. They may be lacking energy, tired, lethargic, stressed, dull skin, a bit run-down even. As a race we have survived for thousands of years without a problem, but in the 21st Century we are working in ways our bodies haven't adjusted to, we may eat processed / convenience foods, we drive more, we wear restrictive or tight clothes, over-eating, under-eating. All these factors and many more take their toll on the body, and it can usually cope with the demands placed upon it. Sometimes we just need to help it along or give it a break.

"If we make the analogy of the large intestine, or colon being the body's waste disposal or sewer system. we can begin to understand the process more clearly.
Imagine what would be the result of a pump failure in a city's sewer system or what would happen if all the pipes got plugged up with some unmovable material so that the system failed to move waste? It wouldn't take very long before a crisis developed and a huge sanitation problem would threaten health and society."

In a healthy body it should take approximately 24hours for food to transit through the body, in the UK at the moment this is now approximately 60 hours for men and 70 hours for women*. This waste material in the colon can cause some problems, firstly it is toxic to the body and those poisins can re-enter the blood stream making you feel ill, tired or weak. It isn't easy to tell if you are suffering from any toxic material in your colon. But common sighs include headaches, backaches, constipation, fatigue, bad breath, body odour, irritability, confusion, skin problems, abdominal gas, bloating, diarrhoea, sciatic pain, and so forth.
